Last One!!!!

Well, I survived May...the busiest month ever!!!  I finished my last project/event yesterday.  It was very small in comparison to the other events I hosted in May.  I was asked to assist with the May birthdays at work.  So, Marcia Picanzo and I put our heads together and decided to do a May Flower theme.  It was easy, and not really a new concept but it was safe and still very cute for a work afternoon treat.  We had very lil' decor, but a very tasty treat.  We did summer fruit tea and OREO dirt cake.... can't go wrong with OREOs, right?  Here's just a few pics to document.

~ One of those days ~

Yes, yesterday certainly falls into the category of “one of those days”.  I guess we are all dealt one here and there, huh?  Well, yesterday was my turn.


As I’m sitting in traffic on I-40, I hear a screeching noise only to be followed by a swift push in the rear.  Yes, someone plowed into my rear end.  All is well I’m assuming…it’s not my fault…the other girl has insurance...there is minimal damage to my rear… it’s still a good day. The other girl on the other hand… not so good. She was leaking fluids and had to be towed.

After waiting 45 minutes for the Metro police, I realized that I didn’t have good information for any of the three things you are to have when involved in a wreck or pulled over. Registration, license and insurance card.  My insurance card was out of date, but thank goodness for the iPhone app with State Farm… it saved the day.  I finally found my registration after tearing the car apart.  However, my license had expired as of my last birthday.  Oh the joy I felt!  How was I going to get out of this one?  It’s an arrestable offence in these parts.  God’s mercy shined on me as the cop kept it our lil’ secret that they had expired, but not without telling me he was doing me a huge favor for not cuffing me and taking me to jail.

Ok, so after settling the woes of having a wreck and somehow dodging the expired license nightmare, I had to keep my promise to the officer and take care of the expired license before the day ended.  I was then told too many years had passed to use the old photo and that I had to physically come in the office to renew.  Joy!  So then, I went parading the streets of Nashville to have my license renewed...I finally found where I needed to be...circled Nash streets numerous times for parking...parked to only be told I had to move...found meter...tore purse apart looking for change...asked a total stranger for a piece of candy because I was about to pass out only to have him tell me he knows CPR...jay walked right in front of enforcement...arrived at destination to have my foot abused by the revolving door...took number 52 and then heard " we are now serving number 24"...sat with the most diverse group of Nasvillians I've ever seen with various smells...need I say more?  At this point, I was just waiting for the piano to drop out of the sky onto my head.

BUT I GOT 'EM!!!!...new license!!! Whoo Hoo!!!

I topped the day off with going to see the most feared man on the planet for me… the dentist. Oh yeah, and I went to get an early estimate on my vehicle. Did I mention I didn’t get much work done at my full-time job.  Needless to say, I’m glad the sun set on yesterday and it’s a new day with new mercies.

~ Wall Art Makeover ~

Ok, so this is one project off the to do list.  I purchased these wall plaques 9 years ago when adding decor to Ethan's baby room.  They were washed out white with sailboats and anchors.  After he went to a big boy room I stored them away in a box.  Well, I found that box when decorating for Kenzie's nursery and made them over (before pic below) to cream, pink & brown to match her nursery.  Now, fast forward 2 1/2 years to now.  If you've seen prior post, then you know I'm redoing Kenzie's room to a big girl room.  I decided that these plaques would remain...they just need to be updated.

I helped a friend with a lingerie shower this past Friday night and it turned out great.  We went with Black and White damask accented with Hot Pink... a perfect combo for Sassy.  Here's a couple of pics from the event.  I was delighted to be able to design the invitation for this event as well.

Glue Dots

Ok, so this has to be the most incredible invention in a long while.  Thought I would share.  I've always used another thinner version in my crafting/scrapbook world, but never to do entertaining projects.

C'mon now... let's POTTY

I posted this a while back to facebook before I had a blog when Kenzie started potty training and have been meaning to do an update for some time now.  Kenzie Grace has officially been potty trained for a few months now.  Something to celebrate!!!  As you can see below, she was so proud of her big girl panties and she loved earning stickers for her time spent on the throne.

Boys and their Toys

This invention was too creative not to post.  Ethan built this jet on his own...no lego template...no instructions...just raw brain cells at work.  

He has always been very inquisitive, creative, analytical and the list goes on of wonderful qualities an individual can own.  He has said more than once that he would like to be an engineer when he grows up.  I say that's a fantastic goal to have at such a young age.  I LOVE everything about this lil' boy including his underlying engineering skills, but most of all I LOVE his heart. 

Engineer: Engineering is the discipline, art and profession of acquiring and applying technical, scientific, and mathematical knowledge to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems, and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention.

I’ve been privileged to design a birthday invitation for a very special lil’ “bug”. His name in Gentry Pollock and his life is a gift from God and a lil’ miracle to say the least. His mom, Heather is a very dear friend of mine that I don’t get to spend near enough time with these days. We were cut from the same cloth to say the least. She gets me and that’s enough said. Anyway…

Gentry is the sweetest most adorable lil’ one year old in the land. His mother wanted him long before he was a reality and God chose to give her the desire of her heart almost one year ago.

Here’s to the cutest lil’ bug around!

~ A note to Gentry ~ 

I can’t believe you are about to turn one year old. You are growing so fast! I held you just a day or two after you were born. I know that God has special plans for your life because he chose to give you to some of the best people on earth. You are a blessed lil’ guy and your mommy and daddy love you so much. I remember your mommy dreaming of you before you became a reality. I remember sharing in her joy when she told me she was finally carrying you. I remember the struggles of her pregnancy and everything her body endured to ensure you were healthy and that she would one day hold you…she wanted you for a really long time. And I remember when she held you in her arms and couldn’t believe you were real. It’s a joy to see her hold you knowing that you are the dearest thing in the world to her. I can’t wait to watch you grow and develop and most of all see what God has in store for your life.

~ A Lil' Bit Country ~

Well, with all the flood chaos in Nashville and surrounding counties I failed to write regarding Grandparents & Special Friends Day 2010 at The Covenant School.  Ethan sang a portion of a solo and it was fantastic.  He amazes me!  He had two solos back to back in two different plays (one school and one church) and never skipped a beat.  Ethan's special guest were Papaw Donnie, Nanny Trudy and Aunt Charlotte.  Papaw Sam and Nanny Gail were unable to make this event.  Nanny Susie was sick, so she and Papaw Gaylon was unable to attend as well.  It was a great performance as we near the end of the shool year.

Before I was a Mom
I made and ate hot meals.
I had unstained clothing.
I had quiet conversations on the phone.

Before I was a Mom
I slept as late as I wanted
And never worried about how late
I got into bed.
I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.

Before I was a Mom,
I cleaned my house each day.
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to lullabies.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't worry whether or not my
plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been pooped on,
Spit up on,
Chewed on,
Peed on,
Or pinched by tiny fingers.

Before I was a Mom,
I had complete control of myself;
My thoughts,
My body,
And my mind.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so that doctors could do tests or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't
want to put it down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew something so small could affect my
life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of having my
heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a
Mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of
the night every ten minutes to make
sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
The joy,
The love,
The heartache,
The wonderfulment,
Or the satisfaction of being a Mom.

I didn't know I was capable of feeling so
much before I was a Mom.

These are just a few of the neighborhoods where I have friends that lost everything from the flood.  Some of which are after the waters had already began to receed.  There are several more families, but I don't have pictures.  I will update with those pics as I get them.  We are praying for them all.
