~ Kenzie’s Room Update – DIY Project #2 ~

I know, I know…. I KNOW!!!

It’s been a year since I started K's room makeover and you guys have seen this photo on my sidebar... FOREVER.

Wait a minute, don’t be too critical… I work full-time remember.

Recently, I finished another wall art project for her room and I think it turned out nice.

Here's how it turned out!  She LOVES them!

First, I found two old 11x14 gold frames in my “dump all” closet.  I wish I would have taken a photo of them before...yuck! I already had white spray paint and sand paper. I knew that I wanted these to be look like I got them at a flea market, but they turned out a little more shabby than expected. That’s ok, they will do and are in the range of the look I was seeking.

After a little spray paint, sanding, new mats and two custom Do-It-Yourself printables seen below... we have custom DIY wall art...which means more to me than if I would have bought it at some boutique.

Obviously, these printables were inspired by my danty lil' 3 year old's love to wear her tutu, twirl and dance.

~ A Father's Guidance ~

What a special father/son moment!

Ethan has always worn the over the neck and pull ties, but this Easter we purchased him a "real" tie.

Just for a split second on Easter morning, I caught a glimpse of the man he'll be.

You know if you are a parent, you day dream every now and then about what your children will be like when they grow up.

Lately, my husband (Allen) has put a lot of focus on Ethan and directing him as a father.

I've said before, there is nothing in the world like watching the man you are in love with father the children you adore... NOTHING!!!

Allen sang a song once by PC&D that said...

Lord, I want to be just like You
'Cause he wants to be just like me
I want to be a holy example
For his innocent eyes to see
Help me be a living Bible, Lord
That my little boy can read
I want to be just like You
'Cause he wants to be like me

Speaking of fathering, prayer is something my husband does with our children on a daily basis.

I'm so thankful for this commitment he has made to our children.

I have to admit, I stop before turning the corner some nights and just soak in their words.

Kenzie's prayers go something like this...Thank you for my mommy and daddy... and thank you for Ethan and my puppy... and Aunt Charlotte... all my toys (and whatever else she is obsessing over at the time)... and God, can you take away all the storms in the world.  Amen!  Imagine this in a sweet lil' dainty girl voice.  Priceless!

Ethan's prayers are more grown up and quite impressive.  He knows how to pray in his comfort zone, but tends to fall apart if he's asked to do so in a crowd... just like his mommy.  Allen was out of town recently and asked Ethan to be the man of the house for a couple of days.  His first response was "does this mean I'm in control of the guns" and his second was that he would make sure to pray with Kenzie at night... and he did.  Both traits (guns and prayer) from his father.  :-)

Allen's prayers, of course, are of thankfulness, protection over our family, praise and healing.

Anyway, this post was originally going to be only focused on the father/son tie moment I captured Easter morning, but I got side tracked.

I guess that's ok since it's what I'm feeling on my heart, which is what I want to give my children in these writings... my heart.

Ethan and Kenzie Grace, mommy and daddy love you more than "cupcakes and sprinkles".

Kenzie says this when she's trying to describe how much she loves something.  Sweet!

Love, Mommy

~ Easter 2011 ~

I write about Easter today with a thankful heart.
I'm thankful for my earthly and Heavenly blessings.
I'm thankful for my Savior and the price He paid on Calvary.
Me & My Gang (not the greatest photo, but it's us)

This Easter was simple with Easter baskets, church, egg hunt and lunch with friends and family.
Just the way I like it...SIMPLE.

Here are a few highlights.

~ Uncle Ben, his "friend" and the kiddos ~

Oh yeah, here are the kiddos baskets.

The Easter bunny found "himself" out of time and not able to spend as much time as usual on their baskets, but in the spirit of sharing and documenting... I've posted anyway.  :-)

~ To Sew or Not to Sew? ~

I stumbled on these pillowcase dresses while browsing for Kenzie's Easter dress.

Oh, how I love them and want one of them to be her Easter dress.

Unfortunately, VintageFern just made them for her girls and doesn't sell them.  *sad face*

GORGEOUS, right?!

So, out of sheer desperation to have one of these in K's closet, the thought crossed my mind.

Drum roll please, "I'll just take up sewing".

Add something else on to this crazy chaotic life of mine.

It's something that's always been in the back of my head, but just never surfaced.

Yes, I've done the no-sew window panels and the straight stitch emergency sewing and a button here and there.  Oh yeah, I made a pillow in school in Home Economics.  *grin*

But NEVER have I jumped into a full pattern, measuring, cutting and adding zippers, etc.

The thought is there now and I either have to put the fire out or pursue and MAKE THIS DRESS!!!

Stay tuned....

~ March 2011 - A Month in Photos ~

March was slam jammed packed full.

Looking back, I'm not really sure how it all happened.

I simply can NOT believe that 1/4 of the year is gone already and we are staring Easter in the face.

I managed to catch a few photos in the midst of the chaos.

1. It's Spring here in these parts and absolutely GORGEOUS.  This photo doesn't do justice to the beautiful canopy of Bradford Trees that I was driving through.

2. My first born was baptized this can read about it a few post ago.

3. Kenzie wished all my facebook friends a colorful day this Saturday morning.

4. Happy "29th" Birthday to my wonderful husband.

5. Kenzie... putting a smile on her face.

6. Great fun with a simple balloon.  You can read about this too a couple post back.

7. The ironing, tagging and hanging paid off.  We made $400 this year from consignment.  This will go toward the kiddos Spring/Summer wardrobe.  Recycling money is great!!!

8. There is NOTHING like Moon Sand milkshakes.  No, really....nothing.  Good MESSY fun!!!

9. March madness was a riot.  Basketball everywhere you turn.

10. Kenzie tricycle is still here favorite toy.  She rides it EVERY day.

11. Just one of many photos capturing K's organizing skills.

12. Sometimes wearing a pretty dress makes things better.  K was a sick puppy, but still managed to slip on a dress to lounge in.  Silly girl.  :-(

13. I told K it was going to rain and she put on her rain boots and grabbed her umbrella.  I couldn't pass up getting photos.
