Me & My Gang | Pearly Whites {K's First Dental Visit}

If I haven't mentioned it already, I have the best dentist in the world!!!

I met my dentist, Dr. Y, in 1997 and I knew that I'd follow this man to the edge of the earth if need be to care for my pearly whites.

An accident landed me in a dental chair enduring restoration procedures at an early age due to a car accident.  I was terrified of the dentist...until Dr. Y.  He made me feel so at ease and I knew when I left his office in 1997 that he would care for me from that point forward.

Now, he cares for every member of my family.

I thought you'd like to meet him along with Kenzie for the first time.

She thought it was pretty cool that she could watch cartoons while waiting for him to see her.

She was at complete ease when she met him.

He explained everything to her and she listened intently.

I thought she might have a melt down when he laid her back, but no, she was just fine.

Dr. Y was so sweet to present her with a brand new tooth brush and show her how to use it.

He took her to his office and let her choose from the treasure box.

She thought he was quite grand.

Look at those PEARLY WHITES!!!

We have a small issue we'll have to deal with when she's older, but all in all it was a GREAT visit.

On the way home she said "Mommy, I don't ever want another dentist"... I told her that I said the same thing several years ago.

Me & My Gang | Our Last Summer Hoorah (The Mountains)

Well, somehow I blinked and summer is over.

We did manage to get in a quick trip to the mountains before school started.  

I thought I'd share a few quick pics from our time a little closer to the clouds.

This was K's first trip to the mountains.  She was astonished and upon arrival immediately recognized their beauty.  Ethan was also intrigued by these mega hills, but more so of every little nook and cranny of the cabin, the pool table, the hot tub.... boys!

We immediately hit the Gatlinburg strip for an afternoon walk.  The kids panned for jewels.  K was super excited about all her "rare" findings.

We walked the strip until day light turned to evening and then enjoy the view from the infamous Gatlinburg Space Needle.  The kids loved it, but the not so adventurous mommy was a bit queasy.

We spent the next day at "Hollywood" as K called it!

It was a fun day of rides, pizza and getting wet!

The next day was probably my favorite of all. We drove through the hills of The Smokies and went up the mountain to Cherokee, NC.  We kept ascending until we were with the clouds.  It was an amazing drive and thanks to my handy dandy ear patch, I was able to endure all the curves and beautiful horizons without nausea... a true small blessing.

The kids were really enjoying the mountains.  The gasp and excitement were priceless.  Them, along with Allen and myself were a bit overwhelmed by the beauty of the earth and all God's glory that day.

I even captured a few sweet moments with Daddy...love!

I might add that the temps were a bit inviting at a cool 66 degrees.  Nice!

We finished the day up in Pigeon Forge where my firstborn found it amusing to give his mom anxiety.

 Yes, that's my child in the sky!!!!

As if one crazy ride wasn't enough, he chose to bungee.  Seriously!

Kenzie is a little more like mommy, and likes to keep things safe.

We made it back home safe and sound... and with a new friend... meet Smokie!

Thank you God for this special time away with the ones I love most!

Me & My Gang | High Five {K's 5th Birthday}

Dearest Kenzie, today you are 5!

It seems this happened when I wasn't looking.

5 years ago, God gifted me with you and each day thereafter I'm gifted to be called your mommy.

You have so many special gifts.  The glitter running through your veins inspires me to embrace being girly just a little bit more.  I pray you will be secure and fulfilled in your talents and always know Whose you are.  I pray that you will use your gifts and talents to bring glory to your Creator and always embrace the beauty that is pleasing to your Heavenly Father.

"Let not yours be the [merely] external adorning with [elaborate] interweaving and knotting of the hair, the wearing of jewelry, or changes of clothes; But let it be the inward adorning and beauty of the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible and unfading charm of a gentle and peaceful spirit, which [is not anxious or wrought up, but] is very precious in the sight of God." - 1 Peter 3:3-4

The task is great for me: helping you find your way through this ugly world and finding purpose and fulfillment in who He created you to be and helping you understand the true meaning of beauty.  I take this very serious.  It took me a long while to understand the true beauty of a woman and not what the world defines as beauty.  I hope to be able to teach this to you early and pray that you embrace it.

"That you may walk (live and conduct yourselves) in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him and desiring to please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing and increasing in and by the knowledge of God [with fuller, deeper, and clearer insight, acquaintance, and recognition]." – Colossions 1:10

If every word on this page is forgotten, remember one thing...you are a child of the King of Kings and He has specific plans for you life.  He knit you together in the womb, every hair and every fiber of your being.  There is no one else like you.  You are His and He defines your worth.  He paid a HIGH price for your life.  If you seek to please Him and not this world, you will always be fulfilled and satisfied.  Don't listen to that little voice that will lie and try to deceive you and steal your joy.

You are loved!

You are beautiful!

You are fearfully and wonderfully made!

May you follow the example of Jesus all of your days and stand on His promises.

I love you more than life and so does your daddy.

We are excited and blessed to be witnesses of all God has for you.

Remember, He has GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL plans for you!

Month In Photos | July 2012

In a hurry summer has passed and we've found ourselves in August.  The first indication of Fall is already present with cooler temps in the morning.  We know that cable knit fabrics, turtlenecks, boots and spice desserts are right around the corner.  

Don't you just love this time of year?!

It's a little late, but here is a little recap of our July in photos.

1. Girly hair and curls tend to rank priority these days.

2. Wellness visits went well, but we have a small follow up related to K's hearing...poor baby.

3. Brushing up on writing skills for preschool.

4. K had her first dental appointment!  Look at those pearly whites!!!

7. A posed photo is rare these days and I'll take what I can get.  Love my E!
